The physical fitness push for our children is not working – leaving them in the middle of an unprecedented “battle with the bulge.” Childhood obesity has tripled in the last 20 years, even though there are more low-fat, low-sugar foods available! Why?
We believe the real problem is an inactivity epidemic that is rampant among today’s kids. What’s the solution…?
Get kids moving – and give them a fun way to increase their daily activity levels… with Walking Works.
This innovative, cross-curricular web-based walking program motivates students to increase their daily physical activity...inside and outside of the classroom.
- Students… wear a pedometer and log steps daily on the Walking Works website, while they learn about geography, history and social studies. While they strive to achieve individualized activity goals, they can record their experiences in an online journal.
- Teachers… can monitor student progress with 24/7 access to the website. Add your own incentives or “bonus items” to motivate students to reach their goals. Printed reports are available to document the impact of the program for parents and administrators.
- Parents… can participate along with their kids.
